The latest Barron Prize NewsSummertime Service: Creative Ways to Make a Difference from a Distance
Youth Service America has launched their annual Summer of Service campaign to support youth in taking action. Their new #DoGoodFromHome initiative challenges young people to do acts of good from home and to “connect through kindness while we’re social distancing.” For every act of “simple safe service” shared with #DoGoodFromHome, Hasbro will donate a toy or game to organizations providing care to the children of COVID-19 essential workers. The program offers dozens of ways to help from home, including fighting hunger, combatting racism, supporting the unemployed, preparing for the November election, and connecting with isolated Seniors.
The Jane Goodall Institute’s Roots & Shoots program challenges young people around the world to “Be Bold, Be Kind, Do Good” and empowers them to affect positive change. Their new Engage, Learn, and Act from Anywhere program provides activities and projects for helping the environment or other people from home. Their 1-Click Actions offer quick and easy ways to make a difference, from reducing food waste to combatting plastic pollution to protecting bees.
GenerationOn, the youth service division of Points of Light, inspires, equips, and mobilizes young people to take action. They support youth volunteerism through service clubs, campaigns, and youth leadership initiatives. Their new Volunteer At Home campaign offers ways to safely make a difference these days, from supporting essential workers to helping animals in need.
